Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Hartlepool Jobs & Skills has a responsibility to provide the community that it serves with equality of access and opportunity and will ensure that all, be they staff, learners, members of the public, or visitors, are treated with dignity and respect regardless of age, disability, race, sex, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment or social background.

The Service identifies and seeks to eliminate all procedures, practices, and attitudes which lead to unfair treatment of individuals or groups by direct, indirect, or combined discrimination, harassment or victimisation.

Every member of staff has a responsibility and duty to implement the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and the attendant Single Equality Scheme. All learners enrol and receive a Learner Handbook that acknowledges they understand the regulations which clearly state that they must treat all staff and learners with dignity, respect and that direct, indirect or combined discrimination, harassment or victimisation will not be tolerated and is a disciplinary offense.

We promise to:
  • Embed equality and diversity into all our practices
  • Advance equality and diversity
  • Celebrate diversity and difference
  • Tackle all forms of discrimination
  • Educate staff, learners, and our community, actively and consistently working to build and maintain an environment that is safe, empowering, compassionate, and fair
