Free Courses for Jobs

Free Courses for Jobs is an initiative, set up by the Government, that provides adults aged 19 and over with access to fully-funded courses at Level 3.


You can access this free opportunity if you are; unemployed or employed earning less than £33,210 or if you do not already hold a qualification at Level 3. There are hundreds of courses to choose from across subject such as Health & Social Care, Management, Children’s Workforce and Education.


The qualifications have been identified to help you improve your long-term prospects and provide access to well-paid careers alongside support from our dedicated team within Hartlepool Jobs & Skills.

With increasing worries at each life stage, whether linked to exam pressure, work expectations, unemployment or financial difficulties, it is not surprising that individuals may struggle to cope with the demands of everyday life. This qualification will enable you to develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of mental health and well-being. It will equip learners with the skills needed to work in a mental health service, making it ideal for those who want to progress in the health and social care sector.

With 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia, and this number expected to rise to over one million by 2025, dementia is a growing issue which impacts upon the individual as well those who support them. This course will enable you to develop an in-depth understanding of dementia and its effects, by exploring the various types of dementia, the importance of early diagnosis, as well as focusing on person-centred approaches to dementia care.


Over 700,000 people in the UK have autism, meaning that 2.8 million people have a relative on the autism spectrum. This course will equip learners with a strong knowledge of autism, including how to support individuals with the condition, the relevant legislative framework, the therapeutic interventions available and safeguarding responsibilities.

This qualification will develop the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in a residential childcare setting, including an understanding of child and young person development.
The qualification enables the learner to gain essential skills and knowledge to support children and young people in residential childcare settings, including: wellbeing and resilience, positive relationships and attachments, health and safety, sexual exploitation, communication, positive behaviour and positive outcomes.

One of the most popular health and social care qualifications, this level 3 diploma is ideal if you work in a care setting and have a level of responsibility in your role. This qualification will improve confidence and performance in your role by developing personal growth and engagement in learning. By completing this course, learners have the potential to boost their career opportunities and progress to level 4 and 5 qualifications for management and senior roles in health and social care.

This qualification focuses on providing learners with the key information needed to effectively support teaching staff throughout an educational institution, including understanding the development of children and young people, how to promote positive behaviour, supporting learning activities and ensuring the well-being and safety of students.


This qualification is designed for learners who are working as a team leader/supervisor with operational/project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team.
This qualification has been aligned to the Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship standard and could be used to support delivery of the apprenticeship.

This qualification is designed to build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 19 years. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas and is spilt into two pathways:

•Learning, Development and Support Services
